About Chi-Yun Chen

Dr. Chi-Yun Chen earned her doctorate in Bioenvironmental Systems Engineering from National Taiwan University in 2023. Dr. Chen’s training is grounded in computational toxicology and risk assessment with a focus on studying the fate of environmental microplastics along with their exposure and effects on aquatic organisms and humans. Her work also involved assessing the disease transmission dynamics and associated risks of emerging infectious diseases to address intricate environmental and human health issues. She is the author/co-author of more than 25 publications.

Currently, Dr. Chen focuses on developing the physiologically based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) models to assess human health risk of microplastics and nanoplastics. Dr. Chen received recognition for her outstanding contributions and was honored as the Postdoc Platform Winner by the Southeastern Region of the Society of Toxicology in November 2023. She also actively leads a research project by utilizing cutting-edge approaches such as machine learning to assess human carcinogenicity and potential risks.
